B50 /BP50 Firmware Version Update 0057-5be7aedf

So zpl1025 is the amp recoverable?

I’m not sure sorry. If could make the device connect to PC, then it’s recoverable with a download tool on PC.

Btw, anybody upgraded with this firmware for B50? If so, please give a like.

Pretty hesitant to risk the update right now. Could you check if the file you used in your office to update is identical to the one provided here?(md5 hash or something)

That way we can rule out any mixup or damage to the file.

Cool~
The file should be fine. I’ve added the md5sum in origin post.

Update worked for me on a B50 :+1:

Dear Frank,
Update did not work for me in B50. Tried with USB FAT formatted stick. But no luck. Previous version update was not a problem. This time I am not sure what happened, there is no update alert in the app when I insert the USB stick. Awaiting your guidance.

While I’m here, I might as well give some feedback on the new version and suggestions for future ones.

I haven’t had any issues with the problems mentioned in the changelog, and all the features I use (mainly HDMI ARC, Bluetooth and phono input) still work fine in the new version. The LED volume indicators are a nice touch :+1:
The new options for the crossover frequency and the intensity slider of the bass enhancement are also good additions.

Now to suggestions and issues:
First to the App:

  • I would like to be able to skip the sign-in process in the app once and for all and not be prompted for it every time I launch the app. At this point I see no use for the login anyway.

  • On my device (Samsung S21 5G) the ā€œhā€ from ā€œBluetoothā€ in the input selection screen is cut off so it looks like a ā€œlā€

  • The german translation for the left-right balance is currently ā€œSaldoā€. That doesnt make any sense and is refering more to the balance of a bank account. That should probably just say ā€œBalanceā€.

  • In the EQ settings the german translation of ā€œsaveā€ should be ā€œSpeichernā€ or ā€œSichernā€ instead of ā€œLagerungā€.

Now to the Firmware/ Device itself:

Most of the time my B50 is used for TV Sound via ARC. I never turn it of with the physical switch on the front, it just goes into standby via Arc or sometimes the Remote.

  • I would like to be able to switch the device on from standby without using the remote. Currently pressing the volume/mode knob doesnt do anything when it is in standby. I think pressing the knob should wake it up. (maybe long press to put it back into standby without the remote?)

  • When I turn on the TV the device should auto switch the input to ARC when any other input is currently selected. Also from standby it should turn on and switch the input to ARC when it is turn on via ARC. Currently it turns on but just restores the previous input source.

  • It would be nice if the BLE Radio was still active in standby so i could turn it on without the infrared remote. This would also open more possibilies for home automation.

  • I would like an option to not proactively connect to previous Bluetooth devices. Instead i could manually select the device on my phone and connect to it. Basically turn on Bluetooth but just be passive and wait for connections. Would be even better if that would just work all of the time with automatic switching to the Bluetooth input (maybe even from standby?)

I don’t know which one of those improvements would even be possible with a firmware update but I just wanted to give some suggestions for future updates

Apologies for the delay. I was not allowed to post any more on this forum, saying I had posted too much in a single day. I had to wait 24 hours to be able to post again.

I am still waiting for someone from Arylic to email me with information regarding shipping my unit back. So far I’ve been instructed by you all to send it back, but nobody has provided me a shipping label, address, RMA number, etc. Please reach out to me over email about what the next steps are.

Also, I tried the suggestion to connect to my PC via USB, but that is not working. The device reboots itself before it’s able to do so.

Lastly, as a point of note for my unit, I did very little to modify its settings. I was using it solely for ARC audio/CEC from the TV, never having used the Bluetooth or any other function. The only two settings I changed within the Go Control app was renaming the device and turning on ā€œDeep Bassā€. I had updated the firmware from the original firmware (48 I believe) to version 52 the day that I received the device in September 2023, and since that point I have effectively left it alone until it became bricked yesterday trying to update to version 56. Likewise, for the upgrade I made use of a 32GB FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive, and upon plugging it into the back of the unit, the Go Control app recognized the update file and prompted me to start the update procedure. Everything appeared to go as normal up until the boot-looping began, and it has been in that state ever since.

Thanks for the update. I haven’t received a response to my second email either.

My experience is very similar to yours. I used it on my desk, using the usbdac as the sound card for my pc and occasionally switching to line in for Volumio on my RasPi.

I upgraded to 52 without an issue. I used a Kingston FAT32 drive, to flash the new firmware.

I’m relieved in a way because there are at least 3 of us who have bricked devices so I can’t imagine it’s user error. On the other hand, despite Frank’s suggestions on this forum I haven’t heard a peep. Part of me is telling me to relax give people time to do their jobs and don’t always expect the worst, the other part is expecting the worst…

I’ll keep the forum updated if I get a RMA label etc

Thanks for the hints, we’ll try the same on our side to try to reproduce the issue.

I just received a response from Rachel at Arylic, and they are saying that to help me further they need to analyze the device in-person, and that I need to ship my unit to them in Guangdong, China. They said once it is shipped they will replace it with a new unit. As far as covering the cost of shipping, they said they’ll give me ā€œan advance on the costā€, and they’ll return the shipping costs to me to an account of my choosing.

This seems very peculiar tbh. I’ve never quite had an experience like this from a consumer electronics company…

Update: They confirmed a replacement order has been shipped to me, and I can ship them back the broken unit once the new one gets to me ~5 days from now

@joy Thanks for your comments

Hello,
the update wasn’t a problem.
But my problem with ARC was not solved. Still no connection is established. No reactions, no matter what settings. My TV is a Dyon LIVE 42 PRO X. Maybe someone has a solution.

Did you make sure to connect it to HDMI1 (the only ARC capable port on that tv model) and enable HDMI CEC in the settings? I would set ā€œSPDIF Modeā€ to PCM even though I think it only affects the optical output of the tv.
Also you could try a different HDMI cable if you didn’t do that already.
Other than that I would guess you’re out of luck for the moment. You can only hope for changes in future firmware versions.
HDMI CEC\ ARC in my (limited) experience seems to somewhat finnicky anyway and you have a combination of a non giant brand tv (like Samsung, LG, etc.) and a receiver from a relatively new brand when it comes to HDMI functionality.
Unfortunately there is a lot of potential for incomplete, faulty or just incompatible implementations in this scenario. :man_shrugging:

Hello,
I changed the HDMI cable and it works very well. Didn’t think that was the reason. But that’s just how it is.
Tanks

I’ve updated my B50 today and I’m having the same issue as @mfoguete, @optionaltoast and @bwyazel.

It’s really strange… We did a lot of testing these days, we upgraded about 50+ devices, from 48 to 52 to 56, and forth and back. No issues at all. Now I have no idea for what’s really happening on your devices. And I’ll wait for the faulty device to arrive in office for further investigation.

Dear Mr. Frank, I am not getting a update prompt in the app after inserting the USB stick. What could be the reason.
