Up2Stream pro and USB-input issues

Hello

I recently bought an Up2Stream Pro and have some difficulties to set it up according to my needs.

My set up are:

HTPC with Ubunutu <-USB-> Up2stream Pro <-I2S-> Amp with DAC

I have made the connections and in general does it work, however are the some minor hick-ups that I need support with.

  1. I would like to have the Micro-USB as priority input. I can start the Up2Stream with USB-input. But if I go over to WiFi of BT can I not go back to USB without rebooting the Up2Stream.

  2. Is it possible to have USB as priority input?

  3. If not, is it possible to disable the WiFi and BT to avoid it taking over from USB?

  4. The volume settings when using the USB are not consistent. Most of the times are the Volume levels with USB-input significant lower than with WiFi or BT. This makes the change from USB->WiFi impossible without changing levels on the power-amp to the speakers. It is inconvenient to do this. I also feels that I need to use over-amplification on the HTPC to level out this issue, with digital clipping as a result.

  5. I also find the volume levels to be unlinear with USB-input. From 0-50% are the sound almost un hearable. It is not until iIpass 50% as things start to happend.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Your post is a little confusing to me as in one sentence you are saying that you want to disable the wifi and Bluetooth and in the next you want all of the line levels to be the same?
When your Pro board is connected to your computer via the micro USB it is driven by default, so your computer will find a new audio device without any other operation

Hello

Sorry for late feedback, have been working with other projects for a while, and sorry for the confusion. I will try one more time explain my need and issues.

First of all: I intend to use the USBdac as the only input. If I by accident use the BT or the WiFi do I need to manually power reset the Up2Stream, othvice will my Media Center not identify the up2Stream via USB. This is somewhat annoying, if I can disable BT and WiFi will the problem be eliminated

Next issue:
I get the feeling that the when I use the USBdac are the output signal lower than the compared to the other inputs (those I intend to not use). It is obvious when swapping from USB => BT / WiFi.

The consequence of this are that I have less headroom in my amplifier, which already are on the low side as I use a set of filters in the DSP. The amp are connected via I2S.

My Media center (PC running ubuntu) recognize two outputs:

  • Digital Output (S/PDIF) - Up2Stream USB audio
  • Analog Output (S/PDIF) - Up2Stream USB audio
The “Digital” are more linear in output signal compared to the “Analog”, however does the “Analog” sends significant higher maximum level ( more like the BT & WiFi)
Therefore do I get the impression that there are some kind of “limiter” on the Digital Output (S/PDIF). I have looked on all the settings in the 4Stream app and the web interface without finding any differences in settings to explain this.

Is it supposed to be lower output signal or what have i missed?
What have i missed?
