S50pro Can't talk to the Internet

I have a newly bought S50pro that won’t talk to the Internet.

No firmware updates (API response gives unable to download error code).

Any play of Internet radio station, Spotify etc shows a “This device isn’t connected to the Internet” error. The unit can talk to all subnets here and I can AirPlay to it from other subnets.

I can see the box establish firewall states to the following IPs:
216.58.221.36 - 370ms pings
52.9.254.50 - no ping response
54.239.26.171 - no ping response

Each of the IPs attempts seems to try a few packets then give up. I’m guessing these IPs are Arylics’s AWS instances but seem to be down.

Also, Airplay seems to work from most devices apart from my Synology NAS. NAS and my phone are in different subnets to S50pro but phones work, not NAS. All using unicast as across a layer3 switch.

Wireless. I’m going to try sticking it on the the same VLAN but wired. Since traffic is passing correctly across subnets it would seem strange for there to be a difference. The DHCP server is the same for both.

Hi @basicmonkey. I think Arylic are developing a Web Interface in which we will be able to configure IP Address, Gateway, DNS Server etc. (fingers crossed). This will certainly help :slight_smile:

I have use Synology NAS Audio Station for many years now . The Airplay has never been particularly reliable when using Non Apple Devices. I never bother with it nowadays (as I don’t use my (Airport Expresses and more) and stick to DLNA side of things.

I thing I read somewhere that Arylic are developing Airplay 2. I know nothing about what this is an the differences to Airplay 1 !!

I’ve done a packet capture and can see that it is successfully talking to some web servers but one is giving a 301 redirect to google.com which doesn’t help. I’m going to send it back.
