I have a new Upstream Pro. When connected to a 1amp USB power supply via the micro USB port it works as expected. If I power it using the binding ports to a 5v 5amp PSU the board powers up just fine and I can connect to it, it appears in Spotify and the app and so on. However, there is no audio at all. No music, no voice prompts, nothing.
I’ve checked with my multimeter and the PSU is providing a constant 5.09v. Support say my power supply is too powerful and I must use a 1 amp supply. I’m no expert but my understanding is that the board should only draw as much current as it needs.
I will try an alternative PSU but in the meantime can anyone explain this discrepancy? It makes no sense to me.
That’s really weird, none of my boards are powered from the USB mini connector and never had any issues.
The only difference between the two connectors is a barrier diode on the screw connector (to ensure correct polarity)
ok, I stripped the USB charger out of it’s case and attached it to the binding ports and it worked fine. I realised the USB charger was also supplying 2.5A so that clearly wasn’t the issue. There was obviously something weird about my 24v stepdown that it didn’t like. It was a bit disappointing that the Arylic support were talking such nonsense.
