New A30+ and a SonosOne speaker out of sync

I just installed my A30+ (and love it, so happy to be using an old set of speakers I had had for decades).

I was hoping to use the A30+ along with an existing SonosOne speaker I have on the same Wifi network. When I play both speakers in Apple Airplay they are considerably out of sync. Is there any trouble shooting or fix I can attempt for this?

I am on firmware 4.6.415145.41

I think the problem here may be a limitation of the A30+ rather than your Wi-Fi.

The A30+ supports AirPlay 1, not AirPlay 2. That’s important because synchronized playback to multiple independent speakers is an AirPlay 2 feature.

Your Sonos One supports AirPlay 2, but the A30+ doesn’t become an AirPlay 2 device simply because both appear as AirPlay destinations. So if you’re managing to send audio to both, I wouldn’t expect reliable sample-accurate synchronization between them, and changing Wi-Fi settings probably won’t fix a consistent timing difference.

Arylic’s own current comparison information still lists:

A30+ — AirPlay 1

while newer models such as the H50 and LP-series devices support AirPlay 2.

You can still rule out network problems by:

  • putting both devices on the same LAN/subnet;
  • avoiding guest Wi-Fi/client isolation;
  • testing the A30+ over Ethernet if possible;
  • rebooting the A30+, Sonos and AirPlay source;
  • checking whether the delay is constant or gradually drifts.

That last test is useful. A fixed offset could indicate buffering/latency differences; a delay that changes or drifts points more toward synchronization/network timing.

But, if your objective is to have the A30+ and Sonos One play together tightly synchronized, firmware 4.6.415145.41 isn’t going to turn the A30+ into a true AirPlay 2 endpoint. You’d need an AirPlay 2-capable Arylic device—or another AirPlay 2 receiver feeding your amplifier—for that configuration.

Thanks very much, this all makes sense. Is it possible that there will ever be an update to my A30+ that allows for AirPlay2?
