Issues with Stereo Sync using two Up2Stream Pro v3 Boards

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here, so please bear with me if I miss any forum etiquette!

I recently built a pair of custom speakers (picture attached, since I know we all love to see the projects).

Each speaker is equipped with an Arylic Up2Stream Pro v3 board, and my goal was to create a wireless stereo setup.

Using the 4Stream app, I paired the two speakers, assigning one as the left channel and the other as the right. However, I’m encountering a frustrating issue: the stereo image seems to drift. Voices or sounds that should be centered sometimes shift entirely to the left or right speaker.

Interestingly, if I pause playback and then resume, the problem sometimes resolves itself, but it might also shift the panorama to one side again. It’s inconsistent and makes enjoying music with a stable stereo image challenging.

Here’s some additional info about my setup:

  • Boards: Up2Stream Pro v3 (one per speaker)
  • Firmware Version: 4.6.415145.35
  • App Version: 3.1.20.230912.88ce06

Is this a known issue? Are there any tips or tricks to ensure a stable stereo image and proper synchronization between the two speakers?

I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Julius

Hi Julius,

I’m not sure if anyone has actually done this previously, but it has been discussed in previous posts.
The boards were primarily designed for multi-room use rather than what you are using them for. Yes it will work, but with caveats, which you have discovered with your wandering stereo image. You are not saying that there is any delay or latency between the speakers (which is good), but I’m not aware of any possible fix for the wandering image problem.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply and the clarification. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I must admit, I’m a bit surprised that the boards offer the option to assign individual channels (Left or Right) if the synchronization isn’t precise enough to ensure a stable stereo image. It feels a bit counterintuitive, as one would assume that this feature is specifically intended for stereo setups like mine.
It’s especially frustrating because I designed the entire concept of these speakers around this functionality, and now I’ll have to rebuild everything from scratch to make it work.

Thanks again for shedding some light on this!

Best regards,
Julius
