I’ve tried bringing the bass down to 0 in the 4Stream and Go Control apps to no avail. It is a real bummer as the primary reason I bought 3 of these units is to have a record on throughout the house.
Hopefully you lovely folks in the community have suggestions! Happy to answer any questions to help diagnose.
Hi,
The RCA input is for line level, signals, you probably need a RIAA preamp, as the signal from a turntable requires a RIAA equalisation curve applied to it to ensure that your LP records sound balance and accurate.
Sorry I should have specified further. My turntable plugs into a Technics SA-120 amplifier which contains a built-in phono preamp. The line out from the amp then plugs into the Line In on the A50. Shouldn’t that already account for proper RIAA equalization?
I’m having the exact same issue since about December. Bought my A50 four years ago, and just recently the line-in started clipping. My record player (Sync Xtrm1) has a built-in preamp which brings it to line level. It worked perfectly for four years.
Thought I was going crazy. Already returned a second hand record to the store since I thought the record sounded bad. But it is just the line-in going crazy.
Confirmed it truly is clipping by connecting another audio player (Esparagus HiFi MediaLink) to the line-in, which has a volume control. With the player on a low level and the A50 on a high volume level everything sounds great. But the other way around it clips, as expected, and sounds the same.
Glad to have found someone else having the same issue, confirming I ain’t going insane. The weird thing is that it worked perfectly for 4 years.
No, I have not tried this (yet), since I first thought the turntable was the problem. Changed the element and needle, tried different records, different cables.
Now I am able to recall that I might have changed the EQ in the 4Stream app. The bass was set to -3 and I might have changed it to 0. So that might have caused the clipping, now I’m thinking about it. Writing out your problems and thoughts helps in problem solving.
But I also bought the license and will try to reduce the gain. Is the A50 line-in gain controlled in the PGA0 line_in 1 volume control?
Another ‘problem’ I have with the A50 is that the lowest volume is a bit to high, both with streaming as with the line-in. Can the streaming gain be changed with the DAC0 Digital volume control?
Great to hear. So how do I connect the A50 to ACPWorkbench?
The A50 has no micro-usb port as the A50+ does. The USB-A port only seems to support USB drives to play music from.
Just screwed it open and sadly no micro usb inside.
Apologies, I was ignorant to the fact that the A50 didn’t have a pc connection?
However, you could set the maximum gain via applying your A50’s IP address to your web browser there is a maximum output setting there.
@zpl1025 Frank, is there a way to connect the ACPWORKBENCH to an A50?
Would be a bummer if I couldn’t connect the A50 to ACPWorkbench, since I spent 20 bucks on it. But if I would have paid more attention to the product page, I would have seen that the A50 is not in the list of supported products.
Just looked through the HTTP, UART and TCP documents, but there does not seem to be a way to control the gain that way.
The webbrowser does not work for me, in both Edge and Firefox the loadings symbol does not dissappear.
A50 does not support to work with ACP tool indeed.
And btw, did you ever turned on the deep bass function in accident? You could check with the Go Control APP, or just press the d.bass button on remote to switch ON/OFF.
