I was thrilled to see that Spotify has finally launched its lossless audio streaming! This is the feature I’ve been waiting for, and I’m eager to try it out with my Arylic setup.
I have a few types of Arylic devices that I love:
H50
Up2Stream HD DAC
A50
A10
With the rollout of Spotify Lossless, I’m curious about whether these devices will support the new higher-quality streaming.
I tried to test it myself on my Up2Stream HD DAC. In the Spotify app, I switched the streaming quality to “Lossless,” but when I tried to play a track, there was no sound. As soon as I switched it back to “High Quality,” the music started playing again.
This makes me wonder:
Will our Arylic devices need a firmware update to support Spotify Lossless?
Will all Arylic devices, including the ones I’ve listed, eventually support this feature?
Has anyone else in the community tried using Spotify Lossless with their Arylic gear? I’d love to hear about your experiences!
It would be great to get some official word from the Arylic team on this. I’m really looking forward to enjoying the best possible audio quality from Spotify on my Arylic system!
Thanks in advance for any information or insights.
I can 100% confirm that Spotify Lossless is supported by the LP10.
However, the optical signal is also delivered to external DACs at 88 kHz sampling rate, which is nonsense.
And could you list which devices will and won’t be compatible…?
A50 and A10 i would understand not to be, but H50 and Up2Stream HD DAC I would susspect that they should be supported…
If they support Tidal Connect, why could they not support Spotify Lossless…?
Hey @vonRoX . I’m just as excited about Spotify Lossless and waiting to enjoy it through my Arylic setup too. I can tell, it’s not supported on Arylic devices yet, which explains the playback issue in lossless mode. Hopefully, a firmware update will bring support soon I’m keeping an eye out as well!
@zpl1025 Can’t or don’t want to…? Is there a technical reason why, or jsut because the new LA and LP lineup is on the way…?
WiiM devices have full support and they run on linkplay as well - so I do not se a reason, why arylic could not…
Spotify lossless seems to work on H50 for me. I was looking in the wiim forums on how to enable and check.
Open Spotify app, do not connect to anything, set streaming to lossless in settings on “this phone” start playback. Confirm it says lossless at the bottom of the screen. Open the devices to connect, connect to h50. Open settings again and the name of the arylic h50 is there now. Change to lossless. Exit settings now the device name at the bottom says lossless next to it.
This seems to indicate that the spotify API is functional for lossless and you are streaming lossless.
I don’t know how to check beyond that. Wiim say their devices have been ready for it since 2023, just waiting for Spotify to enable it at the user end.
What?! I thought that the whole point of arylic devices was to run on Linkplay protocol… So the new lineup is not Linkplaty anymore…?
Or what does it mean when you say “Linkplay stopped supporting us”…?
You are correct, it appears that Arylic no longer use the Linkplay modules, hence I guess the reason they are selling off their remaining stocks under the Up2Stream banner.
The new Arylic product line now use a Libre Wireless module in place of the Linkplay so there probably won’t be any more Up2Stream firmware updates forthcoming.
It’s a bit disappointing to some of the users, myself having used their products throughout my home, I use five Up2Stream modules in different configurations.
