Hi! I have a vintage audio setup and BP50. Got a hold of Sony Bluray player BDP-S1700. Would it be possible to used the bluray player as audio player via BP50 ARC HDMI port? So the “flow” would be Bluray player HDMI out ->BP50 HDMI ARC-> BP50 RCA out → old receiver. Setup does not have a TV or any screen. Currently if all is connected, there is no audio. Am I trying to achieve something that is just not possible, or is it possible, and I am just doing something wrong?Not a digital audio guy, and not very knowledgeable of the HDMI standard. If the question is answered-explained elsewhere, just share a link. Any help is appreciated!
Afaik that is not possible. The Audio Return Channel comes from the TV only.
You would need a seperate device in between your bluray player and the BP50 called “hdmi audio extractor”. It is better to go into Opt In on the BP50 anyway because it is much more stable.
