BP50 Display Issue

Hi @gurkey , thanks for your nicely feedback.

Once you have the problem, you also can contact us with online chat or email also:

Arylic has sent me a replacement BP50 which arrived yesterday. I set it up this morning and it all seems to work. The LED lights are very bright and seem larger than before. I can’t compare because I sent my old unit to their agent in Florida. I think it is really good that they have a US based company to handle the after market issues, it makes me feel good about Arylic and their commitment to consumer support!

My setup is completely different than when I first bought the BP50, I now use a used Denon AV surround receiver instead of a stereo amp. I also bought a used Marantz 5 CD player which I had plugged into an available optical input on the AVR. The BP50 has a output optical and an input, so I unplugged the output of the CD player and stuck that in the input of the BP50 then took the cable already going to the AVR into the output optical of the BP50. Once I set a good volume level on the BP50 it worked great! Now I can just change the mode on the BP50 to BT and send my phone through the unit to the optical out and I have added a new device to my system! I still have more inputs left on the Arylic to add. I had stopped using the Arylic because of my system change, so glad to have it added back in! All of my system is either used from online marketplaces or new and on huge discounts from online deals. You can put together a good affordable system with components that are no longer wanted, and dealers liquidating discontinued speakers etc.

Hi Joy,

Because of disappearing LED-inscriptions for the active input on the front panel of my BP50 => Arylic had sent me a (new) replacement BP50 from the German Arylic warehouse, which was supposed to have a re-designed PCB design because of this defect, which several people seem to have. After a few weeks of activation (there seems to be no standby mode) that current LED-inscription for the active input has - again - dimmed considerably, I would say - roughly - by about 70% !
It looks to me, as if the current behavior of the BP50 display has not changed in any ways compared with the returned “old” unit, which I already had sent back to the address provided by the Arylic Service, because it behaves the same as before: after some time the input LED has dimmed considerably and will probably die completely, leaving then only a dark front display. Are You sure, that the display (front) PCB has really (?) been changed on that (new) replacement unit because of that identical behavior / defect ?
Due to other things, which had to be done urgently in the meantime (my father-in-law died), I used the new unit only rarely after the exchange.
What to do now ??? Do i need a replacement again ?

Kind regards
gurkey

Another replacement-unit arrived, this time directly from Arylic in China.
This one was supposed to have implemented changes to the display unit not available yet by the Arylic warehouse in Germany. I will check in the upcoming months if this has cured the mentioned problems.

The return-costs (DHL) of the units to be replaced (Germany) has only been partially refunded because of commissions charged by PayPal. This has happened twice now.
Arylic Service (China) unfortunately did not respond to my final suggestions to remedy this (up to now).

Another PayPal payment has been received (partial refund of shipping cost) which - unfortunately - still does not cover all costs (incl. PayPal charges) of the two packages sent by DHL to their German warehouse. But I don’t mind the remaining (small) difference…
The new unit has been “activated” and running day & night, because I want to observe, if the dimming / malfunctioning of the former lighting issues of the BP50 have been resolved by now with those newly implemented circuit changes, which have been stated by the Arylic Service.,

I will report back later on with the results…

I have the same issue, with dimmed LINE led on my Arylic BP50 bought some months ago :frowning:

I didn’t find how to create a new topic, but my BP50 doesn’t only have the dimmed LED issue.
You can watch this video on youtube, where you can see the dimmed LED and other issues, search " Buggy ARYLIC BP50 preamp : gradually becoming unusable" or seach “6LPWnyMOTjQ”.

If you don’t have other suggestion, I think I will ask Amazon for exchange or refund :frowning:

I had the already exchanged BP50 because of that same problem (see my former posts) switched on for some time now and the “Line” LED, which was used as the default setting after “StdBy” in the meantime, is almost unreadable by now. Customer service of Arylic told me, that the problem had been solved by a redesign of the PCB some time ago (the reason for that mentioned exchange), but It looks to me, as if only a larger resistor was used for the display of those input LEDs: the brightness started somewhat less with the new version and has diminished afterwards to that mentioned state as listed above. It is “dark” by now, almost unreadable during day light, barely readable at night time. The corresponding LED will probably disappear completely in the near future, leaving only a blank screen for that input.

Any idea, when this problem will be finally solved ???

Seems to me, as if I am not the only one, who has this problem, because people had contacted me directly in the meantime (there is a video about this on Youtube already) for the same reason. I am just wondering, because this seems to be such a simple problem solved by every other manufacturer…

Another problem: I have an “older” Chinese smartphone (2016, medium size) with Android version 8.0 using Bluetooth 4 (?). I tried to establish a connection to that “new version” of Arylic BP50, but have not been able to get it to connect with this Arylic device anymore . I tried several times and distances / positions over night (and day), but nothing worked. The older version did connect, but not the newer one.

I’m on the verge of refraining to use it anymore because of all those mentioned problems…

I have checked the LED “Line” indicator again (several times) and it is now almost unreadable during day time, barely readable (very dim) during night time. Other inputs will probably show the same behavior. It doesn’t look to me, as if there has been done anything to ensure a longer lifetime to those LED input descriptors.
Others probably have the same problem. I bought mine at the end of 2023. This Arylic product (BP50) is now out of warranty and not working correctly anymore… Sigh.
I would refrain from buying anything from them because of all those problems with those units.
