BK01 futures...

Ok so I’ve purchased a bk01 as a beta person. I don’t remember them specifying which models it was going to work with or not work with…

So I have one. The first one I got didn’t work properly the volume ring did nothing. Turning it did not produce a lit background and made no difference to the volume so was obviously faulty.

This has been replaced once I went through the usual process of providing information to document the fact that it didn’t work.

The replacement has arrived (foc) and works correctly.

However, I’m left wondering what the purpose of this device is for in terms of it’s functioning with Arylic’s higher-end products.

I have various models of product including 2 of the H50 devices, which it doesn’t work with?

Given that this is a nice tactile device to have sat on a coffee table, I wonder whether they’ve missed the market by having it work with lesser devices and not the higher end products?

Maybe this is a future development and it will become compatible with all the products?

Maybe somebody on here that’s more knowledgeable than I, can respond to this and restore my faith in the product.

Just a round off… A couple of observations.

The matt surface of the front of the device shows finger marks rather well, a different surface might have been a better call. Also using the top and bottom buttons to recall playlists is at best functional at worst unpredictable, requiring some level of agitation to make them respond correctly. It appears the top button will play whatever is preset 1 where the bottom button plays whatever is set preset 3. Describing them as playlists is a bit confusing the detailed instructions should say that these are effectively presets i.e number 1 and number 3 to save any confusion in their use.

I ordered two of these, also during the preorder. I’ll say, the build quality is far better than I expected. Now, for functionality; not once have I gotten it to work. I have several Up2Stream Amp 2.0 (v4)'s as well as an s10 preamp.

Never have I gotten this rather nice and expensive paperweight to be anything else but a paperweight.

You should send a message to arylic support about that. They sent me a replacement fairly promptly.

I have since dismantled the original faulty unit. And found that there’s a component that has a armature that moves one way or the other depending on the direction the ring is rotated in. The arm of the armature had broken off inside which is why the volume could not be adjusted on the original unit. I asked if they could ship me a replacement component so I could attempt to replace it on the circuit board, they wouldn’t offer this but they have give me the serial number and component identification so I could purchase one myself.
