I am enjoying this thread as I am a DIYer and have a Wiim Mini and a Smart Audio Module Q1 streamer. The Q1 is the cheapest streamer and runs on 4Stream. From some research all these brands are under Rakoit with some relationship to Linkplay software. There are also other apps such as Legacy Player and Muzo with fewer features that also work, possibly these are earlier versions. I have ordered the ESS9022 DAC board upgrade for the Q1 as the onboard DAC doesn’t sound great. I run a SMSL SU1 DAC with the Wiim Mini. Sounds great[quote=“Bastien_M, post:6, topic:3101, full:true”]
From what I can see Rakoit (the real constructor behind Arylic, check their firmware, software and product they all come from Rakoit) has implemented their homemade version of Linkplay Technology (https://www.linkplay.com/) which is the core of streaming capability of Wiim.
I don’t know if it is a copy of the technology or if they copied web api and app look (making them interoperable even if technology is different). I even think it is a good idea, develop your own software, hardware but make it so it can be integrated with other solution so customer wins.
I have the impression that Rakoit is more creating product as supplier for companies ready to extends/develop their own software and Arylic just resell those product off the shelf while Wiim is doing the software, firmware, hardware “at home” only using linkplay and their companion app.
Nothing is certain appart that the app and firmware of wiim is regularly patched and updated but Arylic ones dont. So you end up with situation like with Deezer where it stopped for both Arylic and Wiim but wiim came with a new implementation of Deezer API in a few weeks and Arylic never implemented it and now delisted it from compatibility list :S

IMHO.
